Graston Technique® Therapy in Erie

Advanced Soft Tissue Treatment at Activecare Physical Therapy

Pain is only part of the problem—what you do next determines how fast and how fully you recover.
Soft tissue injuries won’t heal properly without targeted treatment. The Graston Technique® helps break the cycle of inflammation, stiffness, and recurring pain—so you can move freely again, without limitations.

At Activecare Physical Therapy in Erie, PA, we specialize in the Graston Technique®—a proven manual therapy method that helps relieve chronic pain, break down scar tissue, and restore normal function in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. If you’re struggling with stiffness, inflammation, or soft tissue injuries that won’t go away, Graston Technique may be the solution you’ve been looking for.

What Is the Graston Technique®?

The Graston Technique® is a form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) that uses specially designed stainless-steel tools to detect and treat areas of restriction in the soft tissues.
Through gentle scraping and gliding motions over the skin, this technique helps:

  • Break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions
  • Improve range of motion
  • Stimulate healing and tissue regeneration
  • Reduce chronic inflammation

Graston is commonly used by physical therapists and sports medicine professionals to treat both acute and long-standing musculoskeletal conditions.

Conditions Treated with Graston Technique

Our licensed clinicians at Activecare Physical Therapy use the Graston Technique to treat a wide range of soft tissue injuries and dysfunctions, including:

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles tendinitis
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Tennis elbow / Golfer’s elbow
  • Shoulder impingement
  • Neck pain and tension
  • Post-surgical scar tissue
  • Iliotibial (IT) band syndrome
  • Patellar tendinitis (jumper’s knee)

This technique is also helpful in managing repetitive stress injuries and chronic pain conditions that have not responded well to other treatments.

Patsy Bennett

I have been at Activecare Physical Therapy over the last 3 years for a couple of issues. First for my hip, before surgery, then again after tendon repair. Later I went for therapy on my shoulder, once again, before surgery. Ehren was great; he was especially helpful with letting the doctor and insurance company know that therapy was not going to help the problem. As it was, I needed a complete new shoulder!
Ehren is very good at listening, and explaining the way things work. I have other issues that impact the therapy and what I can do, and he was always willing to find another exercise that would help without exacerbating my problems.
This last time (just “graduated” in mid-December 🙂 I also worked with Kendra who was always encouraging and innovative, too, pushing me just enough.
I hope (fingers crossed) I will not need therapy again, but if so, I will definitely be back at Activecare. I would recommend them for anyone.

Fantastic Therapist, Julie. This is my third time in PT in a year since a fall that broke my arm and led to a shoulder replacement and she’s the first one to help with the pain. She’s also working on my jaw at the same time which was also injured in the fall. I can’t even compare her to the first therapy office I went to. It’s like night and day. I highly recommend Activecare and Therapist Julie.
